“and (He) rose again on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end”. -Nicene Creed
This is what we profess, this is what we believe.
He died for you. He died so that your sins may be forgiven. He died in accordance with the Scriptures.
Know if you have been away from the faith—today is a great day to come home. If you do not understand some of the teachings ask about them. If you have been hurt I offer my personal apology. If you wonder, we have missed you. Know your sins, no matter how grave, are forgivable. Know you are a child of God, deeply loved and perfectly made. Know the Saint Joseph Community is a home for sinners on the road to Sainthood and there is always a seat for you at the table.
In June I will retire after 50 years as a Priest in the Diocese of Evansville. I have been honored to serve as your Pastor since July of 2002. It has been my privilege to be with you for the joy of births and Baptisms, First Communion, the healing of Confession, Confirmation and Weddings (and sadly Divorces), Illness and Death. I have loved you, cried for you and prayed for you and I will continue to do so. It was good to see you today as we celebrate the greatest day of our faith.
Father Traylor, Father Jerry, Deacon Martin, Deacon Levi and the entire Parish Staff join me in wishing you a joyous Easter and invite you back next week.
Yours in Christ, Father Ray
