Following the guidance of the Catholic Diocese of Evansville, Office of Catechesis, Saint Joseph’s programs are intended to invite, engage, and encourage all students of all ages to grow and live a life in Christ following the authentic teachings of the Catholic Church.
Saint Joseph offers multiple programs for children. Sunday School is available for children 4 yrs old thru Kindergarten during the Sunday 9:00 a.m. Mass. Children’s Liturgy of the Word (C.L.O.W.) is available for grades 1-4 during both the Sunday 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. Masses and offered in Spanish at the Sunday 4:00 p.m. Mass. C.L.O.W. and Sunday School programs begin in October and end in the spring. C.L.O.W. provides an opportunity for the children to hear the Word of God during Mass, and study it on their level of learning. Also, weekly catechetical classes are offered for elementary, middle school and high school students, instruction for First Sacraments for 2nd graders (First Reconciliation and First Eucharist), and formation for Confirmation beginning Sophomore year. “Vacation Bible School” is offered in June for children pre-school through grade 6.
A winning program for “special needs” adults (SPRED) meets first Tuesday of the month, beginning September through May at the Parish Center. For more information, contact Rosina Schuler at 482-2825.
Adult Education is offered throughout the year, by bringing in speakers on topics addressing teachings of the Catholic Faith. Watch the bulletin and newsletter for the upcoming speaking events.
A variety of bible studies are offered to help develop a more intimate knowledge of Christ through scripture. “Ignorance of Scripture is ignorance of Christ”-Saint Jerome. These study groups are organized and held throughout the year. Saint Joseph offers multiple studies from the Great Adventure Foundational Study Series. For more information, on these studies, go to www.biblestudyforcatholics.com. This is a great way to get to know your catholic faith better through scripture. At the same time, the studies provide an opportunity for fellowship. Call the Parish Center office at 482-1805 to find out when the next sessions are being offered.
